Women
Outdoors needs you! We have
hundreds of members nationally. Many
of which are not currently in an active chapter.
What’s involved in becoming a Regional Contact for our organization? It
does not take much effort to start a Women Outdoors chapter in your area.
It just requires a strong desire to create a network of women who enjoy
activities in the outdoors. Women
Outdoors National Headquarters will provide promotional brochures for you to
distribute and/or post where appropriate. When
several potential members are interested, it then requires planning and
coordinating a list of activities led by volunteers in this network.
The list of activities is mailed to the members in your region two weeks
before the first event on the list. Describe
each activity in full, giving date, time, location, and phone number of the
volunteer leader to contact. Women
Outdoors National Headquarters maintains the membership list and will provide
you with address labels for these mailings.
Our Treasurer refunds a percentage of each member's
membership fee to your region to cover the mailing costs and promotional
expenses of that region. There is
also “start-up” money available. To summarize this process: ·
Find women
in your area that will commit to the philosophy of Women Outdoors. ·
Have them
join as per instructions in the brochure. ·
Plan a
calendar of events for the upcoming 2 to 3 month period. ·
Mail the
calendar to these recently acquired new members and post at bookstores or women
centers in your area. ·
Hold the
events. Be sure to have a good
time! Encourage potential new
members to participate and join. ·
Have the
women sign an “Assumption of Risk” statement which we provide that
eliminates liability for Women Outdoors. If you have any questions regarding starting an active chapter in your region, contact our President at Info@Women-Outdoors.org. |
