SARGENT CAMP ADVENTURES Throughout the weekend of our
gathering, Sargent Camp Staff will offer a variety of personal and group
challenge opportunities for women to take part in. These adventures are led by
fully trained and fully qualified individuals employed by Sargent Camp. Since
Sargent Camp carries the liability insurance for these adventures, an additional
fee is required. Group
Challenge/High Ropes Course: Before climbing, on our high
ropes course, we ask participants to be involved in a half-day of trust building
activities. Women will have the
opportunity to get to know and trust each other through a variety of fun, active
problem solving initiatives, and cooperative games.
After lunch, an instructional session teaches participants how to use the
professional equipment and exercise safety procedures.
Women can then choose their own level of challenge from an exciting
network of rope bridges and logs starting on the ground and ascending as high as
40 feet into the trees. A truly
challenging, rewarding experience demonstrating true teamwork, while boosting
individual self-confidence!
Cliff Rappelling: This
exciting activity is perfect for those looking to try something new and
adventurous. Our beautiful cliff
site stands approximately 35 feet over the water, with wonderful views as you
huddle along the tree line. Participants
will be given basic instructions on how to rappel and then have the chance to
descend into a waiting canoe. Standing
on the edge, looking down at the
water, is truly an experience in Life. Adventures for
Children:
Sargent Camp staff have prepared an entire day of adventure programs and
activities for your children. A great day of relaxation for Moms, too! Sargent
Camp must have a minimum of 10 participants – so bring your children’s
friends too. Bridge
Zip: Jumping
off a 50-foot bridge and zipping down a cable into the cool water of Halfmoon
Pond is sure to get most women's heart pumping. It is a ride you will not
forget! Orienteering:
A brief classroom preparation followed by a beginner level orienteering
course. Learn the map-reading
skills necessary to navigate a pre-defined course around Sargent Camp.
Experience the “thinking
sport”. Compasses will be
provided! The Raptor: Objective: The objective of this activity is to use a physical activity as a means to emphasize goal setting. The actual event is a combination (telephone) pole climb and trapeze or target jump. Individuals set a goal of getting part way or all the way up the pole, kneeling, sitting or standing on top and possible jumping toward a target if they are successful in standing on the top. Climbers wear full body harnesses and are belayed by fellow students. This is a very emotionally challenging event. The
Flying Squirrel: Objective: The
objective of the Flying Squirrel activity is to collectively support,
emotionally and physically, individual choices to be lifted up in the air by the
group and "fly like a squirrel". Flyers wear a full body harness and
are belayed by fellow students. After learning a series of commands, flyers and
fellow team members work together to lift the flyer into the air and then,
gently lower her to the ground. |
